TT Rear Light Cluster - Connector Burnt

Postby Red Diablo » Sat May 13, 2017 2:49 pm

Hi All,

I'm trying to find out how many people have experienced the issue where one of the pins has burned out on the rear light cluster.
It starts off as an intermittent warning on the dash. It gradually deteriorates until the warning becomes permanent and the entire light assembly (Brake, Indicator & Reverse lights) fails on the affected side.

It damages both the housing and the plug.

As a consequence you need to replace the Tail Light Cluster Bulb Holder Carrier.
In my case it was the right hand side (Part Number: 8J0945258A)
Not sure what to do about the plug as yet. A bit research is required to determine if it is connected into the main loom elsewhere via another plug or if it is hard wired.

A web search today seems to indicate that this is not an uncommon issue affecting the second generation TT model.

PS. I checked the left had side and it is OK.

Regards,

Red D.
